It’s not about you.
Let me rephrase that.
Your audience cares less about you than you think.
In fact, they’re only focused on finding a solution to their problem.
This is why you need to throw out all of the jargon-y advice being touted by marketing gurus and get back to the basics of storytelling.
This means it’s time to show not tell.
Think of a company’s social media and website like a party, and you’re making small talk with somebody you barely know.
This person begins yapping on and on about themselves.
In mundane, excruciating detail.
So, you start planning a polite escape.
You find yourself eyeing entryways, mapping out your getaway.
On the internet, the cushion of polite society doesn’t exist.
Your audience can and will bounce at any moment.
And once they’re gone, they could be gone forever.
Don’t be like the dud at the party.
Delight your audience by making it about them not you.
